Referees
There are currently 40 registered referees on Jersey, ranging from those just setting out in the game to individuals who have progressed to officiating in inter-Island matches, the Combination League, Island Games and Combined Counties fixtures.
As part of the Jersey FA Business Plan 2021-24, a target to have 46 registered referees has been set in order to provide 100% coverage of all senior games and 50% of junior games in the island.
To reach that target, the Jersey FA has focussed on a number of areas including:
- Appointing a Referee Development Co-Ordinator (Harry Walker)
- Promotion of referee courses
- Maintaining the Jersey FA Referee Development Centre
- Embedding the FA Grassroots Referee Pathway
- Improving player discipline
Referees play an integral role in ensuring all participants enjoy their match day experience, helping create a competitive, fair, safe and enjoyable playing environment. The Jersey FA Referees' Committee provides support throughout a referee's career, from organising courses, approving promotions and providing support through our mentors, matchday coaches and observers.
