JTC Jersey Wanderers striker Abi Scandrett netted for Jersey's women as they suffered an 8-1 loss against Sussex FA.

In their opening Southern Counties Cup group game, the island side fell behind early on when Skye Bacon's free-kick flew in.

Scandrett pulled Jersey level on 17 minutes, pouncing on a loose ball to make it all square on a wet night in Lancing.

Chloe Winchester's volley put the hosts back ahead, with goals from Georgia Bowen and Sophie Phelps making it 4-1 before half time.

Second-half strikes from Georgia Collier (2), Danielle Boyd and a second for Bowen extended the Sussex advantage.

Jersey's women will travel to take on the Royal Navy on December 4th in their next group match before facing Kent on January 23rd.
